The University of Winnipeg Golden Key Chapter (UWGK)
The University of Winnipeg Golden Key Chapter Honors Student Group (UW-GK) is comprised of UWinnipeg students. These students have academic-focused goals with a GPA in the top 15% of their area of study. Beyond this distinction, the UW-GK offers leadership, volunteerism, scholarships and mentorship opportunities on- and off-campus. This group encourages all students -members and non-members to sign up and participate in all activities. Everyone is welcome. Students host, lead or prepare events, trivia nights, and workshops such as resume writing, mental health and wellness, and business etiquette. They support student goals for scholarships, fundraise for 3 UW-GK scholarships, work with The Princeton Review host LSAT and MCAT practice exams and much more. This unique group of students also works with alumni to stay connected to vital mentors for their knowledge and experience. Volunteer community work is not mandatory to be a group member or participant. They offer what may be a great experience to help those less fortunate and further fundraise to help those in need. Their activities for the academic year- a full year of events- offer experiences that can be an important part of a resume. They also find time to have fun with trivia nights and board games.
Membership: The University of Winnipeg sends out an invitation each year to students who are in the top 15% of their academic area of study. The GPA cut-off is determined by The University of Winnipeg. Once the letter is sent to students who have completed 30 credits, the student decides if they wish to join the Golden Key International Honors Society (GKIHS). They must be a UW student, completed 30 credits, and have a GPA in the top 15% of the area of study that has been set by The University of Winnipeg.
