Student Funding Opportunities

The UWSA offers opportunities for University of Winnipeg students and UWSA Recognized Student Groups to apply for funding for conferences and events that are beneficial to the UWSA, University of Winnipeg students, the university community, or the surrounding community.

Student Funding Opportunities is broken down into two categories:

1. Student Group Funding:
The UWSA values student group events as a part of its service to the membership, and university life. UWSA recognizes student groups in two categories: 1) Recognized Groups 2) Affiliated Groups.

Only Recognized Groups are eligible to apply for UWSA Student Funding Opportunities. Recognized Groups may apply for funding for the following:
• Events
• Supplies
• Start up costs

2. Student Conference Funding:

The UWSA Student Conference/Travel Fund Award supports UWSA members with costs associated with travel to conferences or research opportunities. The fund is intended to assist students with the costs of participating in and/or travelling to educational endeavours which align with the mission statement of the UWSA and/or benefit the local or student community. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the relevancy of the opportunity to their degree, research project and/or community. Preference may be given to students towards the end of their undergraduate degree or graduate students.Recipients must have completed at least 30 credit hours and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Eligible expenses include registration costs, airfare, transportation, accommodations, and meals. The UWSA Student Conference/Travel Fund Award is intended to act as a reimbursement program and applicants may be required to provide documentation of costs. Students can only access funds once per year.Conference must have taken place between April 1, 2020 and March 15, 2021.
