English Literature Students’ Association (ELSA)
The English Literature Student Association (ELSA) acknowledges the ancestral lands and territories of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Dakota, Dene, Métis, and Oji-Cree Nations and the Homeland of the Red River Metis. We acknowledge the drinking water in the City of Winnipeg is sourced from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation. This resource, along with many other resources, is used to fuel the everyday lives of so many at the cost of a few.
ELSA was created by students of the University of Winnipeg for anyone studying or interested in English Literature. Interested members can easily join a community among members of the English faculty. ELSA is an organization that strives to enrich students’ experiences at The University of Winnipeg by organizing social and academic events, hosting regular meetings, providing important resources and information on the department, and building community among students and faculty.
This year ELSA is planning a mix of social and academic activities for its members, such as movie nights, book clubs, and colloquial events. ELSA meets weekly.
ELSA is a positive space that acts to foster and maintain a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment committed to being free from barriers, harassment, abuse, and all forms of oppression.
Membership: Anyone who registered in the English courses or has an interest in English Literature may join.
