Autumn Convocation 2021

WINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg’s 119th Convocation ceremonies will be webcast live Friday, October 15.

The proceedings can be viewed online via live webcast or on our YouTube Channel.

Join us on Friday, October 15 at 9:30 AM, as degrees are conferred in Graduate Programs, Science, Education, Arts, Business and Economics, and Kinesiology.

This week, UWinnipeg will recognize Past President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Annette Trimbee with a portrait unveiling, as well as recognizing the following award recipients:

  • Robin H. Farquhar Award for Excellence in Contributing to Self-Governance, Christine Payne;
  • Clarence Atchison Award for Excellence in Community Service, Dr. Richard Westwood; and
  • Valedictorian Ciarro O’Reggio (Bachelor of Arts, Honours)

These individuals embody UWinnipeg’s culture of inclusivity, outstanding academic scholarship, research excellence, and community engagement.

REES (Respect, Educate, Empower Survivors) is available at the UofW

REES is a simple, secure online reporting platform for sexual violence that is available to the University of Winnipeg campus community. 
REES allows an individual to Create a Record of an incident and choose from multiple reporting options including Anonymous Report, Connect to My Campus and Repeat Perpetrator Identification (RPI), as well as critical information about sexual violence policies and supports on campus and in the community. New City of Winnipeg Bike Map

September 28th, 2021

The City of Winnipeg has created a new Bike Map for cyclists of Winnipeg. The map includes varies paths around the city and details the types of paths including the level of traffic for each.

The map’s legend provides describes the Bikeway Network and the multiple points of interest such as Bike Shops and Repair stations. Helpful information such as traffic signs can be found on the bottom of the map.

UWSA 2021 By-Elections Begin!

The UWSA By-Election period has begun!

The By-Election is where students can run for vacant positions that were not filled during the General Election. To run, you will need to fill out a nomination form and submit it to the Chief Elections Commissioner before the end of the nomination period.

Nomination Period:  Monday, Sept. 27 – Thursday, Oct. 7 *Due by 6 p.m. 

By-Election Nomination Form 2021 – Candidates must submit a completed nomination form to the CEC at cec@theuwsa.ca by 6 PM on October 7, 2021, in order to be eligible to run in the 2021 UWSA By-Elections. All candidates or their scrutineers are encouraged to attend the All Candidates Meeting on Friday, Oct. 8 at 12:30 p.m.

Nomination forms are available in alternate formats for students with accessibility needs. Requests for an alternative nomination form must be submitted in writing (University of Winnipeg Students’ Association, University of Winnipeg, 0R30-515 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2E9) or by email (cec@theuwsa.ca) to the CEC.

Truth and Reconciliation Week 2021

September 23rd, 2021

The University of Winnipeg Students’ Association (UWSA), Indigenous Students’ Association (ISA) and The University of Winnipeg present a week of programming from September 27th to October 1st surrounding Truth and Reconciliation and Every Child Matters Orange Shirt Day. Inspired by the work of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR), there will be virtual and in-person programming dedicated to learning from Indigenous peoples and cultures along with honouring residential school Survivors. In addition, the UWSA will be hosting virtual workshops, limited in-person events, providing food and refreshments and giving away Every Child Matters orange shirts! Everything is free, and all are welcome. 

 Join us for Truth and Reconciliation Week and reflect on what Truth and Reconciliation mean to you as a UofW student!   

You will need to pre-register for workshops. Food and shirts are available while supplies last.
