Standing in Solidarity with Women and International Students from Iran

October 5th, 2022

On September 16, 2022, Mahsa Amini, an Iranian woman, was arrested by Iranian Morality Police for improperly wearing her hijab and died in their custody.

Mahsa Amini’s death is not just a political issue; it is an issue of women’s and human rights. The death of Amini, a young 22-year-old woman, sparked a series of protests across Iran and the world, one of them being in Winnipeg.

Women worldwide are standing in solidarity with our sisters to end the violence and discrimination. We want to voice our respects to them and say that the UWSA recognizes and stands in solidarity with those women.

We want to extend our sympathy and support to the international students from Iran.
