UWSA Student Leader Award

The University of Winnipeg Students’ Association (UWSA) Student Leader Award is established to recognize and honour students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and significant contributions to the University of Winnipeg campus community. The award will be given to three candidates.

​DEADLINE to nominate: Thursday, April 16 by 12:00 p.m. CST

What does the recipient receive: An award and a $500 cash award.

When will the recipient be notified: If they are chosen, they will be notified before Thursday, April 23 AND they will also receive the award in-person on Friday, April 24 in the evening.

Who can you nominate: to be eligible for the award, a candidate must:

  • Be a current member of the University of Winnipeg Students’ Association, which would be a current student at the University of Winnipeg (part-time, full-time, or PACE)
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Current members of the UWSA Executive, Board of Directors, and UWSA Full-Time/Part-Time staff are ineligible to be nominated for the UWSA Student Leader Award to maintain impartial adjudication.

What are the qualifications to nominate somebody: Candidates must demonstrate significant contributions through at least two of the following points below:

  1. Event Leadership: Evidence of leading, organizing, or significantly executing a campus event, campaign, or initiative.
  2. Attendance & Engagement: High level of documented participation in UWSA-led events, University Events, Community organizations associated with the University and/or the UWSA, or UWSA student groups.
  3. Impact on Student Life: A description (quantified where possible) of how their work improved student life (e.g., “Increased club membership by 20%” or “Led a food drive that collected 500 items”).
