November 7th, 2016

Please be aware that some U-Pass cards are malfunctioning today.

National Day of Action this Wednesday!

October 31st, 2016

webaduniter
Hey Students!

On Nov.2 we are going ALL OUT! PC Premier Brian Pallister has stated that he wants to increase tuition fees higher than inflation to reflect Saskatchewan’s. This means tuition could increase by thousands of dollars! Regardless of the FACT that domestic and international students are already crippled by DEBT!

We demand GRANTS NOT LOANS federally and provincially! We demand public funding for post-secondary education! We demand funding for Indigenous students! We demand regulation for international student fees! We demand THIS GOVERNMENT TO INVEST IN OUR FUTURE! That’s why we’re going ALL OUT on Nov. 2!

If you are a student at the University of Winnipeg, you have academic accommodation from your professors and instructors on Nov.2, so if you have a class at 1:30 p.m. talk to your professors TODAY to receive accommodation. This means that if you have a lab, practicum, exam, test, presentation etc. you can make it up at a later date without penalty or deducted participation or attendance marks!! Faculty are fully supportive of our students because they too believe that post-secondary needs to be funded and not on the back of their students!!!

COME JOIN US at 12 p.m. on the Front Lawn of the University of Winnipeg on Wednesday. Nov. 2!

Flu Vaccines for a cause

October 18th, 2016

Flu vaccines for a cause! Pharmacy and Medical students from the University of Manitoba are hosting a free flu vaccination clinic on October 24th and 25th located in Riddell Atrium from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day.

We are hoping to immunize as many individuals as possible, as this clinic event is also for a good cause.

For every immunization given at this clinic, $5 will be donated to UNICEF to fund vaccine programs in developing countries. So, not only could the influenza vaccine help keep you and your loved ones from getting sick this season, it can also help provide vaccine access to many people in countries where access to these life-saving immunizations are extremely hindered.

The vaccination is free for all wishing to receive it. Please come prepared with your Manitoba Health Card, international student card or out-of-province medical card.

The influenza vaccine is recommended for everyone! Even if you “never get sick”, immunization is the best way to protect your loved ones and at risk public. Every year in Canada over 10,000 individuals are hospitalized due to influenza and thousands more will die as a result of infection. Prevention with vaccine is our best defense. The vaccination is extremely safe and well-tolerated, however if you have any questions or concerns our health care professionals at the clinics will be happy to provide education and serve as resources to answer all of your inquiries. There will be treats and entry into a prize draw for all who get immunized at our clinics!

Help us improve the health of our community and the health of those in communities in need around the world; one immunization at a time.

If you have any questions please contact Jan Byrd at j.byrd@uwinnipeg.ca or (204) 988-7563.
