Health Plan Eligibility Expansion – What’s Changing?

Starting Fall 2025, undergraduate students enrolled in six (6) or more credit hours per term will be automatically enrolled in the UWSA Health Plan.

If your tuition and fees are paid by a First Nations band, Indigenous community, or other third-party sponsor, please head over to the: Sponsored and Indigenous Students Health Plan

The UWSA Health Plan provides extended health and dental coverage through BlueCross, and is administered by StudentCare.

What does this mean for me?

  • A $330 health plan fee will be added to your student account once per academic year (typically in the Fall term).
  • Your plan will remain active from September to August unless you opt out.
  • You’ll be eligible for services such as prescription drug coverage, dental cleanings, mental health support, travel insurance, and more.

Can I opt out?

Yes. If you already have comparable health and dental coverage (e.g., through a parent, guardian, or employer), you may choose to opt out of the UWSA plan.

To opt out:

  • You must submit your request through the StudentCare Health Plan Opt-Out during the change-of-coverage period at the beginning of the term.
  • Late opt-outs are not permitted once the deadline has passed.
