The Wildlife Society – University of Winnipeg Student Chapter (TWS-UW)
Are you interested in wildlife or the environment and want to meet students and other people with similar interests? Consider joining The Wildlife Society at UWinnipeg (TWS UW). This is a group of UW students, mostly from Biology and Environmental Studies. Examples of events include a long-running (since 2015!) Cougar-Cat Cam (trail camera study of cougars); workshops on radio telemetry, fish aging, animal communication, insect or plant identification; networking events that bring potential employers to campus; and fun outdoors activities and social gatherings. Faculty members from the Departments of Biology and Environmental Studies and Sciences advise the group. TWS UW is affiliated with the Manitoba, Canadian and International Wildlife Societies, and enables you to participate in Provincial, National, and International activities. As a former member of TWS UW said, “The goal is to give students hands-on experience with fieldwork that they can apply to their CVs and to give them the opportunity to take part in interesting and varied wildlife-related activities.”
Membership: Undergraduate and Graduate students are eligible to become members and to participate on the Executive team for this group.
