- Winter Intake Period: December 7, 2026 – Jan 15, 2027
All Student Groups will need to apply to be registered with the UWSA.
The UWSA offers opportunities for University of Winnipeg students and UWSA Recognized Student Groups to apply for funding for conferences and events that are beneficial to the UWSA, University of Winnipeg students, the university community, or the surrounding community.
Student Group Funding:
The UWSA values student group events as a part of its service to the membership, and university life. UWSA recognizes student groups in two categories: 1) Recognized Groups 2) Affiliated Groups. Only Recognized Groups are eligible to apply for UWSA Student Funding Opportunities.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The UWSA has a limited amount of funding available for student groups.
The UWSA can reimburse expense up to your approved amount:
- Any programming/event costs – food, services, supplies, printing, rentals.
- The UWSA will NOT reimburse expenses for alcohol, conferences, travel, honorariums, or personal purchases.
Student Group Funding Request-
- All reimbursement receipts must be submitted together in a single submission.
- Receipts must be submitted only by the designated Contact Person for the student group.
- Please email all receipts to the Business Manager, Tunmise, at tunmise@theuwsa.ca.
- Be sure to include your Interac e-Transfer email address in your submission to facilitate reimbursement.
The designated Contact Person will serve as the primary point of contact (POC) between the student group and the UWSA Administrative Team. Any communications regarding your student group, including policy concerns, complaints, or other matters, will be directed to the Contact Person.

University of Winnipeg’s funding opportunities for Students:
Financial assistance administered by the Awards & Financial Aid Office offers a comprehensive program of scholarships, awards, prizes and bursaries. Awards administered through the Awards & Financial Aid Office are open to both undergraduate and graduate students.

- I was registered last academic school year do I still need to apply?
- Yes. All student groups regardless of your status last year must reapply/renew.
- I’m a new student group. Do I need to apply to start my group?
- Yes and No. You may function as a student group without registering, BUT without applying you will not receive the benefits of one. Such as but not limited to: getting free/discounted space rentals with the University of Winnipeg, and tabling opportunities.
