Hot Meals for Unsheltered Relatives

On Tuesday, December 21, 2021, The UWSA’s Vice-President Student Affairs, Jonathan Henderson, organized an initiative called Hot Meals for Unsheltered Relatives. We distributed 300+ ready-to-eat meals to unsheltered relatives throughout the city. In addition, the UWSA, Canadian Federation of Students Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg, and The University of Winnipeg Sustainability Office have collectively donated $4500 to purchase 300+ hot meals. Meals were prepared by Feast Cafe Bistro.

“It has been a humbling experience to raise over $4,500 in order to provide hot meals for our unsheltered relatives in Winnipeg. Those that contributed are greatly appreciated. It is important that we help others in our community as much as we can. There are so many great initiatives in Winnipeg doing all they can to help our unsheltered relatives,” Says Jonathan Henderson. “It’s truly been amazing the support received from the UWSA, U of W, U of W Sustainability, and CFSMB. I also want to thank the Feast Bistro for preparing these hot meals. Finally, I want to wish our student body, faculty, and staff a wonderful holiday season, stay safe, and if you can, help those less fortunate, we are all part of this wonderful community of Winnipeg, continue to show those big hearts full of love, thank you.”
