Women-Trans Spectrum Centre

The Women-Trans Spectrum Centre is an accessible and inclusive resource centre for women and trans students.  The centre offers free resources, including free condoms (exterior and interior), lubricant, dental dams, as well as free pads, tampons, and pregnancy tests.  The centre also has safer sex info, a telephone, computer, microwave, and an extensive lending library with material on sexuality, Indigenous issues, pornography, ecology, art, feminist theory, and more. The centre is a great space to hang out, study, and build community.

As a collective, we organize events that examine and challenge women and trans oppression.  Our events include things from inclusive dance parties and DIY workshops to panel discussions and film screenings.

The Women-Trans Spectrum Centre is a women and trans only space as we believe it is important for women and trans folk to have a safe space on campus.  Men are encouraged to get in touch if they are interested in acting as allies or if they would like to access any of the centre’s resources.  The events hosted by the collective outside of the centre are open to all folks, unless otherwise indicated.

We are always looking for new ways for the centre and our events to be more accessible and inclusive, and we encourage folks to contact us if they have any recommendations.

If you need access to the centre beyond coordinator hours, please stop by the UWSA General Office.

Volunteer

There are numerous opportunities to volunteer with the centre!  You can volunteer at the centre by attending our weekly meetings, holding centre hours, or helping us organize events.  There are also project-based volunteer opportunities, for example, this year, we are hoping to re-organize and update our library system and we are looking for volunteers to help with this project.  If none of these projects sound like your cup of tea, but you still want to get involved, let us know and we can figure something out!

Follow the centre on Instagram and Twitter @wtscentre and like them on Facebook!
